Weekly review

Things have been pretty boring around here!

Kimmy and Jordyn left on Tuesday afternoon. :-(   So Wednesday and Thursday Nicholas and I just hung out around the house. But on Friday Daddy came home from Florida!

Eric flew from Florida to Chicago and then Chicago to Milwaukee. Well, for being an hour away it certainly took long enough for him to get home! He had a scheduled 2 hour layover in Chicago. Then the plane came in late and delayed him 45 minutes. So I decided to not have to fight rush hour traffic and head out a little early. Well, what I didn't know was that Eric sat on the runway another 45 minutes!!! That was not a successful trip for Nicholas, Tink and I because I didn't pack a diaper bag. I think at one point everyone in the car was crying due to frustration! After he finally got in, we came home and had Chili's To Go.

The weekend was pretty relaxing. Eric did a lot of yard work on Saturday while Nicholas and I sat around the house. That night Eric took us out Famous Dave's. Sunday we went to early church and Eric watched Nicholas most of the day so I could rest from the cold I was fighting.

This week has been pretty boring so far. Since I can't stand it when it gets too hot outside we have been staying inside for the most part. It is supposed to start cooking off so then we can get out of the house. I know it drives Nicholas crazy to be stuck indoors all day. Although, with it being hot inside as well, he has been able to just hang out in his diaper for the majority of the day. That is his favorite!

But apparently it is better with a magazine

Let's see if I can get a quick blog in before Glee gets going. I have DVR so I am safe either way!

The past few days Kim & Jordyn were out here to keep us company while Eric is in Florida. Kimmy wasn't feeling well for most of the trip so they headed back today so she could see her doctor in the morning (if you have never had to experience Tricare insurance, consider yourself lucky). Before they left, we did get to do a few things.

**Sidebar** I may have to wrap this up soon, I forgot NPH is on Glee this week!!

Monday we headed down to Pleasant Prairie for the Jelly Belly factory. So yes, maybe it was Nicholas' third trip there, but Kim and Jordyn had never been so we will drive an hour for a train ride followed by free jelly beans! After lunch at Perkins both of the kids fell asleep on the car ride back so we drove to Lake Pewaukee and Frame Park to keep them sleeping a bit longer. The rest of the day we hung out at the house.

Today after we got ready we headed over to a coffee shop I found on the lakefront in Pewaukee. After breakfast we crossed the street and took some pictures near the lake. Then we were off to the zoo. We took off after an hour since Kimmy wasn't feeling good. I think I got a little sun from that hour....

After Kim's doctors appointment we are planning on her coming back out once she is feeling good. We miss you two already!!!

On Lake Pewaukee. Yes, it was as awesome as it looks.

Look at me, I am a day early on my week review! Go me!!

This week has been fairly busy, for once. On Saturday morning Eric headed out to Florida for another week of Navy Reserves. So Nicholas and I don't get lonely while he is gone Kim and Jordyn came out to keep us company!

They came in on Friday night around 8. Saturday morning we all got ready and took Eric to the airport. I wish I had a picture of Kim jammed in the backseat between the carseat. How her legs didn't fall asleep is beyond me! After dropping Eric off we headed to the Brookfield Farmer's Market and did some shopping. After afternoon naps we went to the grocery store and spent the rest of the night hanging out at home.

Today we attempted to go to church, but that only lasted 20 minutes. The funniest part was after the band played the first two songs Jordyn starts clapping and says "Yay!"... while the rest of the congregation was silent. Luckily everyone thought it was cute and started laughing. We spent the afternoon at the mall, came home for naps and then went to Target and Steak & Shake for dinner. Jordyn has had some trouble adjusting to here so her naps and bedtime sleeping are hit-or-miss. The first night she sang in bed for 20 minutes, "Go Tink, Go Tink, Go, Go, Go Tink." Hopefully tonight went better for her!

Hanging out!

The rest of this week we have lots to do! Jelly Belly, Apple Holler, Milwaukee Zoo, Betty Brinn, Gymboree class. I will try to be better about blogging this week since hopefully things will be more eventful!

Our week in review

This past week we stayed pretty low key since the weekend was going to be jam-packed back in Ankeny!

On Monday we had our Gymboree class. I love the class, but it seems to never fail that he wants to eat during the middle of the 45 minutes. The parents are getting a kick out of his new trick. He lays on his back and lifts up his head and legs. The teacher said that if they ever do a pilates class he has to come and be the leader!
Practicing his Pilates at home!

On Tuesday and Wednesday we went on 5K walks in our neighborhood to get ready for the Southeast Elementary Fun Run on Saturday. Both walks Nicholas fell asleep (shocker I know!) But on the actual day the wind was so bad I decided not to take Nicholas along. I however did walk with Tracy, Katie, Alison and Ashley. We had so much fun that it didn't feel like we were working too hard! Tanner and Claire came, but they ran the race. Rae, Nick, Jolynn and Colby worked the event.

On Sunday we celebrated my first Mother's Day. Eric was nice enough to take the morning shift and I slept in until 8:15! The boys got me a gorgeous blue topaz square necklace (Nicholas' birthstone). After we got ready for the day, we headed over to Papa Tim and Grandma Kelly's house for a little bit. Before heading back to Waukesha, we had lunch at Fazoli's with Papa and Great Grandma Reams.

Our week

So, I am apparently only going to be updating Nicholas' page weekly!! If he would nap more during the day it would be easier to let you know what we have been doing! I have found that keeping him busy during the day makes for an afternoon nap (although usually no more than 45 minutes).

This week we went to our Gymboree class on Monday and on Tuesday we went to the music class. 9 kids banging on drums and cymbals and he falls asleep! The other parents were cracking up. Wedensday and Thursday we didn't do much more than run errands. On Friday we used our new Zoo Passes and went there for an hour. Mom didn't plan very well wearing a black shirt on a 75 degree day! He did take a nice long nap that afternoon!

Yesterday and today Eric had Reserves so this weekend has been fairly similar to our weekdays. We went shopping yesterday morning and then to JC Penney's to pick up the last of his pictures. Today we went to early church (Nicholas has been nice enough to get up at 5 am both mornings) and then hit up Walmart and Target for something to do. Now he is just talking to his friends on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. It is funny because when the show starts and he sees Mickey, a huge smile is on his face!

About 20 seconds after this photo was taken the gorilla ran up to the window and slammed on it...
hope it wasn't my flash that set him off!
